Workshop 2 will look more specifically at the County of San Diego’s development policies and how TDM measures may be designed and incorporated into the development process to mutually benefit the County and developers. This workshop will be an open discussion about how the preferred TDM measures identified in Workshop 1 could be incorporated into the County’s development policies and review process. Participants will break into small groups where they will design TDM strategies for a hypothetical development within San Diego County and propose methods for implementation and sustainment of the TDM program. This input is expected to inform efforts to better incorporate TDM measures into greenfield development applications anticipated in 2015. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has partnered with the County of San Diego to develop two workshops for County staff on best practices for implementing TDM policy through the development process. The workshops are based off of a guidebook that SANDAG developed for local jurisdictions in 2012: Integrating TDM into the Planning and Development Process – A Reference for Cities. The interactive workshops are intended to increase awareness of the benefits of TDM for the County and will serve as a forum to glean feedback on the opportunities for incorporating TDM into the greenfield development review process. The workshop materials will be made available online and adapted for other interested jurisdictions.
