The 120,000 s.f. Kroc Center in Camden, built on a former landfill and brownfield site, includes an athletic training facility and wellness center with both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. Various components of the remediation on the site of what was a municipal landfill and the relationship between them and the design of the building and the landscaped areas are discussed. Attendees inspect the biobasins that were designed to provide “green” solutions to the management of stormwater runoff by allowing recharge of water directly to the shallow aquifer beneath the site.
