Overview

The construction of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Campus transformed a contaminated 12-acre Seattle parking lot into an ecologically and socially sustainable hub for global collaboration and local engagement. This session explores how the rainwater harvesting system grew out of the Foundation’s mission and supports the Foundation’s principles. Learning Objectives - Learn to consider multiple opportunities and options for designing an integrated a rainwater harvesting system. - Understand policy issues concerning the right to rainwater harvesting. - Understand how fixed and seasonal demands drive the design of a rainwater harvesting system. - Understand key issues and requirements for rainwater supplied, natural water features.
