Overview

Natural Areas Conservancy will present the site selection and planning behind its classification of New York City habitat restoration opportunities, which establish native salt marsh and contribute to coastal resilience. This work categorizes nature-based solutions that expand local ecosystems and provide shoreline protection and includes conceptual designs for several sites. Learning Objectives - Gain knowledge of the diversity and value of natural areas on the NYC waterfront. - Learn about results documenting ecological and social research within these natural areas. - Understand the Natural Areas Conservancy’s science-based planning process to inform management and restoration of natural areas. - Review coastal wetland designs to examine unique strategies implemented at different sites.
