The Pennovation Works is conceived as a University commercialization, technology transfer and Research Park providing facilities and a location for the Pennovation Center. To anchor the site, the Pennovation Center building will be a platform to support a wide ranging community of innovators, start-up companies, researchers, corporate sponsors and entrepreneurs who are advancing knowledge and forming new business ventures. Penn’s objective is to develop this asset and provide university researchers and entrepreneurs a space for exploring ideas, advancing knowledge and forming new ventures, while possibly building partnerships between the University and industry. The Pennovation Center, currently in construction as a rehabilitation of an existing building, on site will embody Penn’s goal of driving creative commercialization. It will bring together people from a variety of disciplines including design, business, engineering and science around the translation of basic research into societally beneficial products and new business ventures. The Pennovation Center will be an approximately 53,000 square foot facility that will also house Penn Engineering’s Field Research Center and a full service business incubator to support startup ventures. The Pennovation Center components will include:
• A science and technology business incubator including wet lab.
• Meeting facilities for events and socializing
• Amenities, including food service
• Parking and shuttle bus services to The Penn campus, facilities, and researchers
The University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science intend to expand their fundamental research activities in robotics, cyber physical systems and security by enlarging and nurturing its translation into innovative engineering systems with real world applications. The SEAS Lab space is approximately 13,000 SF Speakers for the Panel will include the site planners from Land Collective, from the Designer team HWKN and KSS, as well as the Owner, Economic Development specialists from Penn and the operator of the incubator.
