Course Description: Regional Transportation Planning Issues, and Alternatives to the Car in Santa Barbara

The Takeaway: Students will understand the historical context for how 'we got here'. They will learn how traffic engineering practices are different in Goleta vs. Santa Barbara. They will also learn how the US 101 widening project could impact surface traffic and how the rest of the region is planning to handle growth stemming from UCSB and Goleta. Finally, they will understand how alternative transportation programs and initiatives are being managed, and what they hope to accomplish.
