Overview

The global population is moving to cities and urbanized areas that offer opportunities not previously available to the majority of the population. By 2050, 75% of the world's population will be residing in cities. To meet this demand many developing countries have embarked on ambitious programs to build new cities, expand and densify existing cities. The form of these new developments will determine energy consumption and the prudent use of limited resources that are available to meet this growing demand for urban living. Using recent case studies, this session will discuss the various elements that need to be integrated and considered when working overseas on large scale urban projects.
