Much has been written about the fact that we are now in the era of 'Big Data' whereby we have access to increasingly large and temporally relevant sources of geocoded data, much of which can inform on urban planning issues.  Little, however, has been written on another recent trend - that of 'Big Models' whereby we can obtain much greater volumes of spatially disaggregated information on the processes generating the outcomes we observe in the real world.  This paper will discuss both trends in Big Data and Big Models with an emphasis on the latter which can provide huge increases in information relevant to many planning decisions.
