Overview

As Texas municipalities face unprecedented growth and environmental uncertainty, water planning is vital to the State's sustainability and resiliency. The purpose of this session is to learn how local comprehensive planning practice can better incorporate water planning and why it is important for municipalities to take an active role in water planning. Attendees will learn about:·how existing comprehensive planning lends itself to water planning and what elements are missing; ·the many ways water shortages occur in municipalities; ·case studies of how municipalities have responded proactively and reactively to water challenges; and·how local water planning plays a role in regional and statewide plans.
