In the midst of a housing crisis, public and private partnerships are a key strategy to provide affordable housing inventory throughout the state. The County of Kauai’s Housing Agency and Vitus Group engaged in a successful partnership that in two years was able to secure land use entitlements and construct two projects, Kolopua and Kanikoo on Kauai. These two projects total 134 housing units that are all serving families that earn below 60 % of Kauai’s median household income. County of Kauai Housing Agency’s former director, Kamuela Cobb Adams, and Vitus Group Director, Makani Maeva, will discuss boots-on-the-ground approaches to success for public and private partnerships in providing Hawaii with its much needed housing stock.
