Design interventions have been applauded in recent years for their ability to transform underutilized elements into functional spaces. Operating under titles such as Tactical Urbanism, Creative Placemaking, Pop-Up Events and Charrettes, these efforts have demonstrated how civic groups and neighborhood leaders can help members of the public reimagine blighted of forgotten public spaces.

Planning-related educational objective:

Attendees will learn about design interventions used to transform underutilized elements into functional spaces and how to engage civic groups and neighborhood leaders to become part of the process.
