Overview

Who doesn’t like a “win-win” situation? Service-learning, and community-engaged research, are growing trends in America’s colleges and universities. These opportunities help students develop professional skills, and bring professional attention (without professional cost) to the neighborhoods that need it. USF’s Director of Strategic Communications/ Adjunct Faculty and students will discuss how neighborhood leaders can seek, develop and nurture mutually beneficial relationships with colleges and universities.

Planning-related educational objective:

Attendees will learn about service-learning and community engagement research, how service-learning and community engagement cultivates a desire for students to remain in the neighborhoods in which they study, how to seek mutually beneficial relationships and how these relationships strengthen neighborhoods and achieve social change.
