Overview

This session concerns three small towns in Oklahoma struggling for survival and what role design might play in their revival. Cases of small town revivals that have been successful nationwide would be featured. The presentation would include the economics of creating a more aesthetic environment such as the proposed dedication of a certain percentage of farm subsidies (redirected from mega-corporate farms) to enhance rural and small town environments.  The role of community center/libraries would be also be featured. Finally, the design of facilities, signage, roadways and parks that has the greatest impact on community spirit at the least cost would be illustrated.
