After a tornadic event, homes are demolished and the landscape is changed with no recognizable landmarks remaining.  The Western Arkansas Planning and Development District GIS Department collaborated with the Crawford County Department of Emergency Management to register, locate and GPS privately owned storm shelters in Crawford County and its’ municipalities to aid first responders in the event of a tornado.  The project data will be used by the Crawford County Emergency Management and Western Arkansas Planning and Development GIS Department to ensure the safety of residents that may become trapped.  This session will review the processes used in order to complete the project and a demonstration of the finished product.
