Whitemarsh Township and Conshohocken Borough share their stretch of the Schuylkill River
with the entire region of central Montgomery County. Hundreds of thousands of vehicles
pass by; thousands of commuters hop on buses and trains; and even thousands of bicycles
pass through the riverfront area. Redevelopment has energized blighted industrial properties
and hundreds of new housing units have been built and are planned. The timing is perfect
for Whitemarsh and Conshohocken to create a riverfront project that will create a regional
destination, and continuous riverfront park, while improving multi-modal accessibility by
connecting the corridor with the regional trails and transit. This session will provide a brief
overview of the proposed plan and engage the participants in an interactive session on how to
best implement such a complex project.
