This session will provide an overview on variances and the legal requirements regarding them. This session will also provide an in depth overview of how the City and Borough of Juneau have used the variance tool and discuss how it's been overused. It will also cover how to use GIS to help determine if Code changes are needed. It will also cover planning tools other than the variance that can provide flexibility with Code requirements.
