This session will take a look at Lexington's recently completed Housing Market Demand study, which was a collaborative effort with homebuilders, realtors, preservation groups, the local PVA and planning staff.  We will cover the market constraints of Lexington's Urban Service Boundary on providing the needed housing called for in the study.  Also, we will look at how the results from Lexington compare to other areas as well as more broadly on the national level.

This will be an in depth look at the housing market demand in Lexington, KY for the next 10 years.  Specifically, we will look at how Lexington's Urban Service Boundary will impact it's ability to provide the projected housing units over the next decade, as well as the policy implications from choosing how to meet that demand.  We will also discuss how the study is impacting the 2018 Comprehensive Plan update.  Our consultants will report on the process for determining the housing market demand, and discuss how Lexington compares to other cities nationally.
