The City of Bloomington's historic districts and resources are regulated by the Historic Preservation and Protection Ordinance and the Unified Development Ordinance. This session will highlight the processes, benefits, issues, and challenges of historic preservation regulation in Bloomington. Come learn about the ins and outs of historic preservation and planning in Bloomington. 


Bethany Emenhiser

Bethany is the Historic Preservation Program Manager. She is the Certified Local Government coordinator and staff liaison to the Bloomington Historic Preservation Commission. She worked with planning staff to update the demolition delay ordinance. She holds an MFA in historic preservation from SCAD and has worked in Bloomington since 2015. Read More

Jackie is the Senior Zoning Planner and works in Development Review, including demolition delay. She previously staffed the Monroe County Historic Preservation Board of Review and participated in the creation of the Courthouse Square Overlay Guidelines.
