Engaging the public on regional or statewide planning efforts can be challenging, especially when plans impacting communities not located on a  road system are being developed. To participate in public planning meetings, residents typically have to travel to a central location where a meeting is held, or the planning/public involvement team has to travel to communities to hold a meeting, both of which are very expensive and time consuming. This presentation provides a broad-based, innovative approach to public involvement, leveraging contacts and technologies available to ensure communities (not located on road systems or unable to travel and participate in public meetings) are involved and able to provide public input on any planning process.
