Planning for Base Camps in the Middle East is unusually complicated due to a number of reasons to include host nation policies, harsh desert environments, along with power and water limitations.  The Army continues to face challenges related to demands on resources and funding.  The planning at Camp Buehring supports the Army Energy Security and Sustainability Strategy (ES2) Vision of “A ready and resilient Army strengthened by secure access to energy, water, and land resources in order to preserve future choices in a rapidly changing world.”  This is reinforced by leveraging planning objectives to specific sustainability goals of informing decisions, optimizing use, assuring access, building resiliency, and driving innovation.
