Overview

FPD members will have an opportunity to learn about incorporating great planning into the civil works field.  This project covers big energy productino for a massive area of the country.  This energy is needed, cheap, and will be here for long time with no pollution.  Many of our nation's critical infrastructure assets need good planning to sustain their capabilities; however, agencies are often reluctant to think big and keep conducting busy as usual.  Planners in the FPD are key to providing their planning expertise to solve infrastructure problems by facilitating the necessary discussion and creating a plan to guide future development decisions.  This presentation will share the results that can easily be transferred and replicated to infrastructure that needs a good capital improvement process.  The presenter will share his experiences on:

1) Our nation's hydropower capability
2) Selling the need for a great plan
3) How to identify the components when starting from scratch
4) Building ownership of the plan through collaboration
5) Presenting how to use the plan
6) The results of a great plan-showing how public and private can turn a plan into reality
