Overview

Walking Tour of Downtown Brooklyn: Join us as the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) presents the ongoing transformation of Downtown Brooklyn’s public sphere.  The tour will begin with a presentation at the DBP’s offices, followed by a walking tour of completed place-making projects and the public space network.  Participate in discussions about the success and challenges of public-private partnerships in expanding the area’s public space network and business and cultural opportunities.

Objectives include:

  • An understanding of place-making at the local level in a dense urban setting.

  • A perspective on the use of public-private partnerships to achieve common goals among government, business, and not-for-profits

  • An appreciation of the economic development and rejuvenating effects of public space provision within transitioning urban areas

  • A view how Planning has contributed to the vibrancy of New York’s “central” borough
