Currently, in our local cities there is mostly car use and some walking and biking. City policies are starting to ease requirements for on-site car parking, provide required bicycle parking, and offer bike sharing and car sharing, such as Zipcar. In addition, public transportation is strategizing by altering routes to accommodate the heavier concentration of riders along AUD corridors and is utilizing electric shuttles. Other solutions include the 2016 adoption of the Bicycle Master Plan which makes biking safer and more effective. We will examine the efforts that are underway to design and build combined housing and public transportation to revitalize neighborhoods.
