Watershed-based stormwater master planning can be effective at addressing multiple issues, including flooding, hydromodification, and water quality impairments. An evaluation of the Upper Woolper Creek watershed in Boone County, Kentucky, identified cost-effective detention basin retrofit opportunities to address these types of issues. The project is an excellent case study for other agencies interested in conducting watershed evaluations and master planning efforts to identify cost-effective stormwater solutions by capitalizing on improvements to existing assets.
