Overview

The Quiggins Sinkhole is the major storm water outfall for the Happy Valley Watershed in Radcliff, Kentucky.  The existing improved outlet of the sinkhole cannot accept the rainfall runoff quick enough to prevent backwater flooding of the area.  Due to this limited capacity structural flooding occurs and South Wilson Road, between Shelton Road and Fairmont Road, is frequently overtopped.

The City of Radcliff, through KDOW, applied for and received federal funding from FEMA for the design and construction of multiple flood control basins.  Currently, two basin are under contract for construction and two additional basins are nearing completion of design.  This presentation will discuss details of the funding application process, design details and methods utilized to allow the city to stretch their construction dollars.
