Overview

This presentation will first inform planners about Virginia’s population trends at state, regional, and local levels, as well as components of population growth or decline in relation to births, deaths, and migration. The session will also discuss the newly released population projections for the state and localities for 2020-2040 and the purpose and utility of state-wide projections. Finally, given the current and future population outlook and changing family/household structure, implications on housing and senior population needs will be discussed.
