Florida's population is expected to grow over 30% by 2040, and those future residents and will need water to live, work and play. This session will focus on water supply planning efforts at the state, regional, and local levels, strategies for coordinating water supply planning efforts among various regional and local entities, and incorporating water supply planning initiatives into local government comprehensive plans to meet statutory requirements. Examples from two water management districts, SJRWMD and SWFWMD, as well as Hillsborough County, will be provided. Session participants will also learn about population projection models for water supply planning, and gain an understanding of how regional and local agencies are determining demand, and sources to meet that demand.
