State legislation in 2014 legalized medical marijuana in Florida, but last year's overwhelming voter approval of Amendment 2 expanded the market and spurred new legislation determining how Florida's medical marijuana industry will operate. As the first facilities open and stakeholders look for additional locations, local governments are feeling the pressure to regulate quickly in the evolving world of cannabis growth, processing, and dispensing. Panelists will discuss federal preemption issues, recent legislative and state rulemaking changes, the formulation of local regulations, emerging issues, national industry trends and real life permitting experience, providing insights planners can use in their own hometown approach.
