Overview

Learn how to transform any space into a place full of activity and life. We'll then put theory to practice by placemaking areas within the conference venue! Preferences and attitudes about what makes a community a desirable place to live, work, and play are changing. The rise of mobile technology now allows people to do almost anything from anywhere. This new found flexibility has given each individual and business far greater choice on where they want to spend their time and money. Families and organizations of all kinds are using this flexibility to increasingly locate and spend time in places that have unique character, are walkable, have a rich array of services, and facilitate social interactions. To deliver on these new demands a holistic placemaking approach is needed to adapt existing uses and enhance future projects to create places of economic and social value.

At this session, participants will get a practical introduction to Transformative Placemaking, a feeling-based, incremental process to creating places of social and commercial value.

Finally, participants will be unleashed into the confines of the conference to put theory into practice and create placemaking installations based on what they’ve learned.
