This session will feature speakers from winning communities from the 2017 Great Places in NC statewide contest. Featured are a Great Main Street, Great Main Street In the Making, Great Transformation, Great Public Space, and a Great Historic Rehabilitation project. Representatives from each community will summarize the highlights of each place, what makes them great, and how they got that way, including best practices that participants can apply in their own communities.

The objective of the Great Places in North Carolina initiative is to recognize and celebrate the efforts, collaborative partnerships, and hard work required of creating great places across our state. Like past years, this lightning round session provides an opportunity for each winning community to describe in detail some of the best practices utilized in their city or town that led to their selection of a Great Place in North Carolina.

A representative from each winning community will provide a brief presentation (approximately seven minutes). Time permitting, there will be a question and answer session following the presentations.

This year's winning communities include:

Great Main Street: Morehead City

Great Main Street In-the-Making: Mebane

Great Transformation: Mooresville Mill

Great Public Space: Lewisville

Great Historic Rehabilitation: Winston-Salem
