Part 1. Tactical Urbanism: A Phased Approach for Improving Streetscapes, Enhancing Safety, and Filling Storefronts

 

Streetscapes and street configuration can have an impact on safety, aesthetics, and the overall function of a corridor. Often times these improvements can be costly or controversial. Tactical Urbanism allows for communities to explore various alternatives and gain community buy in with very little financial investment.

 

Part 2: Salina Downtown Streetscape Improvement Project

 

How Salina is improving its downtown streetscape on Santa Fe Avenue as part of a STAR bond project. HDR Engineering has been hired to facilitate multiple public forums and charrettes, conduct public preference surveys, and design an urban streetscape plan for Santa Fe Avenue, the main downtown corridor.  Learn how to improve a downtown from the start.
