APA Kansas' Planners For Health Funding is working with existing Kansas coalitions to support health equity initiatives. This session will discuss health equity challenges in Kansas, existing grant programs and the ways Planners For Health is enhancing their programming. APA Kansas Planners For Health is working with local Kansas coalitions to support health equity coalitions. There are many ways that Kansas coalitions can receive funding to support public health and planning outcomes. This session will:

1) Provide health equity data on the statewide, regional and local level.  This will identify both the effected groups (age, race, income) and the impact types (access to food/health care/transportation).

2) an understanding of the funding programs available for local coalitions, including those from KDHE, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, the Kansas Health Foundation and the Sunflower Foundation.

3) An example of the coalition building process, how initial funding from a statewide partner can support the coalition, and how funding from APA KS has enhanced the reach.
