Overview

How the City of Manhattan revived an old plan through branding, public engagement, and learn-as-you-go 3-D modeling. The session will include how the City of Manhattan gave a face-lift to an old, but still relevant plan, in terms of content, to gain political will from the public and key stakeholders through creative engagement; the traditional means (open houses, TV, radio, etc.) as well as modern means (online surveys, 3-D model fly-throughs, and social media).  Key points of the presentation are:

1. Discuss our engagement strategy wins.

2. Present an introduction to CityEngine and how the visualization and application of it and other technology relates to public input.

3. Discuss implementation strategies stemming from the momentum of a successful planning process
