Overview

147 miles, the distance one of Manhattan’s Green Apple Bikes traveled in 30 days. Manhattan and Greensburg followed a grass-roots approach to implement community-wide bike share programs that have surpassed all expectations. While both programs are free to users and don’t rely on expensive bikes or bike racks, the usage, program size, and structure are vastly different. Interested in starting your own bike-share program? Find out where to begin, what to avoid, and how to plan for a sustainable program.
