Pedestrian Tunnels - The Mode of the Future
The presentation will discuss several existing and under construction pedestrian tunnel projects. Lessons learned on the
projects highlighted will be discussed to enhance design effectiveness and constructability, reduce construction risks, and
improve quality of delivery.
Evaluating the Summit Street Protected Bicycle Lanes
In November 2015, the first protected bicycle lanes in Columbus were opened to public travel on Summit Street between
11th Avenue and Hudson Street. The presentation will focus on initial findings of a three-year evaluation study
underway related to the established criteria for effectiveness: levels of crashes, levels of bicycling and walking, and
interactions between people riding bicycles, people operating motor vehicles, and people walking/using mobility aids.
Cleveland's New Plan for Innovative Midway Cycle Tracks
A Midway Cycle Track is a two-way facility for exclusive use by bicycles. Cleveland developed the innovative Midway
Cycle Track Plan to create a network of midway cycle track facilities to promote healthy living, enhance connectivity,
support equitable modal choice, and promote economic development, social cohesion, and placemaking throughout the
area. Design, planning, and corridor prioritization activities will be discussed.
