Georgia’s planning and zoning professionals need to be aware of recent developments in the law. This session provides an update on recent Georgia appellate court decisions affecting everything from annexation to vested rights and will also explain the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Murr decision.
The session will be led by two planner/lawyers (one AICP, one FAICP)with several decades of experience in planning and zoning law. It will meet the Law requirement by examining recent appeals court decisions in Georgia as well as the recent Supreme Court Murr takings decision to help planners better understand the legal environment in which they work so they can avoid legal pitfalls. The program will have a depth and scope appropriate to planners with several years of experience and will address the ongoing need for legal knowledge by planners. The program is not intended to promote a legalservice or product offered by either presenter or their respective firms. The program will combine presentation/narrative with sufficient time for questions and answers. The intent of the program is to provide educational material to attendees, not legal services.
