Overview

·         This event will be an hour-long roundtable session on planning for floodplain resiliency. Attendees will learn about best practices in the planning subfields of hazard mitigation, sustainability, and natural resources protection. Each speaker will discuss the technical merits of a project they have worked on to reduce stormwater runoff, elevate development, and design infrastructure to be more resilient to flood events. This session will be a panel discussion among four leading regional experts in these fields on how the planning profession is addressing floodplain management and development issues. The session will be co-hosted by the Genesee-Finger Lakes Section of the APA Upstate NY Chapter and the New York State Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association (NYS FSMA). It will be part of the NYS FSMA statewide conference, and a flyer has been developed to help advertise the event.
