Overview

In today’s environment, when developing long-term strategic plans for military bases, installations are prioritizing more and more energy resiliency. Mission sustainability and execution must be ensured in the face of adversities that can interrupt and degrade quality of energy supply. Failure of aging systems and components, directed attacks, and acts of nature can cause critical mission failures. A Unified Facilities Criteria is currently being developed that guides installation engineers and planners through the process to develop installation/mission-specific energy management plans.  This session introduces the UFC and presents case studies for determining mission criticality, assessing systems, identifying gaps, and approaches to developing/establishing courses of action to ensure mission continuity.
