Join this mobile workshop for an exciting inside look at community building, neighborhood revitalization, and adaptive reuse, as we visit the headquarters of two organizations aiming to improve opportunity and quality of life for residents in one of the most economically-challenged areas in Connecticut. Community Solutions and the North Hartford Partnership are in the midst of coordinating a $34 million transformation of the former M. Swift & Sons Gold Leaf Factory in Hartford’s North End neighborhood into a vibrant community hub for employment and local entrepreneurship. Chrysalis Center, Inc., a non-profit housing developer and social services agency, located in the former Sealtest Milk bottling plant straddling Hartford’s Upper Albany and Asylum Hill neighborhoods, has created spaces for job training programs, a fresh food pantry and café on their campus. Come learn about the wonderful work they are doing from the organization leaders themselves! Bus transportation will be provided from the Convention Center. The tour entails walking once at the sites.
