It's a common situation: people live in one place, and the jobs they seek are in another place. The origins are in your planning area, but not the destinations. These people might need transit, but that's not an option, for a number of reasons. What's a planner to do? The easy thing is to say "that's too complicated; there's no ready solution." In Southwestern Indiana, though, CTAA has worked with EMPO and others to tackle that challenge head-on. In a lightning-fast update from a work in progress, you'll hear about partnerships that are being forged between the MPO, local service providers, local officials, and major employers. Find out what it's like for an MPO to start engaging with partners and stakeholders that aren't within the planning area. Learn how some approaches arose that you may be able to replicate in your own area.
