Overview

Trail Towns is an economic development strategy that has been

proven effective as local economies embrace the economic

opportunity surrounding outdoor recreation and their

supporting tourism-based industries.

This session will focus on how local and regional planners can

utilize simple design tools, promotional and branding strategies,

and relationships with local business owners to expand existing

and create new businesses, attract trail and outdoor recreationbased

tourism, and establish a trail-friendly identity and

character. This session will also discuss regional and national

trends regarding trails and outdoor recreation.
