Green Infrastructure reduces stormwater runoff and flooding in addition to the establishment of a performing a resilient urban infrastructure. The webinar will explore the different Green Infrastructure Practices and a case study of a successful project. Additionally, the webinar will address Green infrastructure financing programs, mapping as part of the Comprehensive Plan and Resiliency Planning, and finally there will be a presentation of the Integrated Approaches to Creating Community Resilience Designs.
Ms. Firehock directs the national Green Infrastructure Center Inc. The center maps, models and creates strategies to conserve or restore natural resources in both wild and urban landscapes to create more resilient communities. She has authored numerous green infrastructure books, case studies, videos and webinars and workshops across the U.S. Previously she was a Senior Associate at the UVA Institute for Environmental Negotiation. She has also been the national Save Our Streams Program Director at the Izaak Walton League of America. She has a B.S. in Natural Resources Management from UMD and a M.P. Urban and Environmental Planning from UVA. She is currently adjunct faculty at UVA’s School of Architecture. She is also a member of the Albemarle County Planning Commission.
