Federal Training Workshop

APA Federal Planning Division

Thursday, May 4, 2017, 8 a.m.
Friday, May 5, 2017, 5 p.m. EDT

New York, NY, United States

Where are we going? What's next? How do we plan for the future? New York City is one of the world's great laboratories for place making. Come participate in the Federal Planning Division's two-day Training Workshop (prior to the May 6-9 National Planning Conference), and learn how we can make our Federal lands and facilities respond to tomorrow's challenges. What better place than New York to share your most progressive ideas.

The program is currently in development and will be published this winter (check back for information about AICP CM credit). This year's theme is Federal Planning on the Move and includes three tracks:

  • Making Great Spaces and Places
  • Environment, Energy, and Resiliency
  • Transport & Infrastructure

The Workshop will also include walking tours to see and experience parts of New York City with relevance to Federal planning and/or the professional background of attendees as planners, architects, engineers, and landscape architects.

Daytime events will take place at the GSA Conference Center (26 Federal Plaza, Manhattan), and evening/social events will be held at the Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge (333 Adams Street, Brooklyn). In addition to the Workshop, an opening reception for networking purposes will be held on Wednesday, May 3, from 6:00-8:00 pm, and the 2017 FPD Awards Dinner (ticket required) will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The Division will also hold a business meeting on Friday, May 5.
