Living Heritage Symposium
Thursday, September 7, 2017, 8 a.m.
Friday, September 8, 2017, noon CDT
San Antonio, TX, United States
One of the goals of the American Planning Association is to help planners nurture healthier communities and places of lasting value. The Living Heritage Symposium meets this goal as it aims to develop action steps, in the form of policies or other recommendations, for the treatment and protection of culturally significant properties and communities. Experts from around the world in the fields of urban planning, economic development and historic preservation will work together to formulate integrative policies that foster sustainable urban communities. The experience will provide a collaborative training environment in which participants will gain knowledge from other fields and learn the most recent international innovations and best practices for producing sustainable urban communities. Participants will leave the symposium with an expanded core base of knowledge in their field, and related fields, while also assisting in the production of new tools and strategies that cities in the United States may implement to benefit their communities and heritage assets.
