Getting There Together: Bridging the Divide

We are living in interesting times.  Looking at the news, it is easy to come away with a picture that society is more divided than ever.  And perhaps that is true at the state and national levels.  However, when we delve down to the regional and local scale where many planners work, pragmatism – getting things done – starts to outweigh rigid policy.  There are certain things we’re all looking for from our counties, cities, villages, and towns – good jobs, livable communities, a robust transportation system, and parks and open space.  Yet some neighborhoods, cities, and counties aren’t able to implement some of the elements that we all look for.  How can planning help to bridge that divide?  What is the planner’s role in trying to ensure that we get there together?  Join us at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center on October 26 & 27th  to learn from your colleagues and explore how planning can help our communities successfully reach our goals together.
