MENTOR MATCH

The APA Iowa Conference offers seasoned and emerging professionals the opportunity to make connections and share advice about career and professional development in person during the conference. To facilitate this connection, APA Iowa will be hosting a ‘meet-up’ event on Thursday, October 18th from 10:30-11:45 am. The location of the ‘meet-up’ will be announced with the final conference program. This is not a traditional shadowing mentor program and may be used as an opportunity to simply connect with a practicing planner and learn more about the field of planning, to review a resume, or to get tips on finding jobs and brush up on interview skills. Mentor pairs are encouraged to make the most of their match by communicating in advance of the conference and then meeting several times during the conference and attending events together.

Space is limited and matches will be assigned on a first come/first served basis. If you would like to participate in this program as either a mentee or a mentor, you must register in advance.

Mentee/Mentor Deadline: September 21

Conference Location

This year's APA conference will be held at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.

Sometimes to discover who you really are, you first have to discover who you’re not. Council Bluffs is unlike anywhere else. On purpose.

Council Bluffs is a historic river city, waiting for you to experience it. Unearth some of our notable landmarks like; the Historic General Dodge House, one of the state’s premier historic homes, visit the Western Historic Trails Center, where East truly met West, or explore the Union pacific Railroad Museum, named the best in the state by 24/7 Wall Street.

Council Bluffs is ranked 6th among medium-sized metros in the United States by the Arts Vibrancy Index. Council Bluffs was the only town in Iowa to be recognized in the 2018 rankings, and it was one of only three cities recognized within the Midwest. Download our Otocast app to take a guided tour of our eccentric art work and sculptures.

We would like to invite you to embrace your un-ness. To uncover the people, the places, the history and the happenings that make us proud.
