Training participants learn the framework to identify the crucial issues, challenges and opportunities associated with the development process. The training is designed to provide intermediate-level instructions to developers, planners, municipal officials, and other professional consultants and stakeholders involved in development or redevelopment in New Jersey. The course format combines lectures, discussions and group activities so that the participants will come away with the knowledge they need to identify and understand the crucial issues and decisions involved with real estate development. A course manual has been developed to guide the training participants during the development process. This training follows the natural sequence of interrelated steps of the development process from concept development, project assessment and development to construction. It also provides discussions on some of the current challenges and emerging trends with development, including smart growth strategies, eminent domain and green building. The objective for the real estate development workshop is to educate developers, municipalities, planners and other community stakeholders on the development process and resources available to initiate and facilitate real estate development projects in New Jersey’s communities.
