The objective of the Green Building workshop is to provide a more in-depth understanding of the commonly used term “sustainable development and green building” as well as provide the opportunity to share the challenges, opportunities and benefits of sustainable development. This full-day educational workshop will also bring together representatives from green buildings and sustainability programs and initiatives to share resources and tools available to facilitate sustainable practices. The workshop is designed to allow for intermediate-level discussions on ways to reduce the burden on the environment in terms of resources, land use, and air and water quality. The workshop will be led by expert development consultants and developers who are knowledgeable in the latest in innovation and best practices in sustainable design, construction, operations, and planning. The seasoned panelists and presenters will share their knowledge and experience to illustrate the different ways and approaches in which we can achieve more environmentally friendly outcomes. The workshop should encourage workshop attendees, especially developers, planners, municipalities and other community stakeholders to plan, design, construct, and maintain buildings, neighborhoods, and cities to be more environmentally friendly for everyone.
