The educational objective of this workshop is to describe what older adults can do to be safe while walking. Planning elements that will be addressed include planning the built environment, street design, accessibility provided by sidewalks. Traffic safety will also be addressed. The workshop will also include a discussion with various stakeholders such as planners, engineers, law enforcement, and health professionals. The aim of the discussion is to identify what resources are available to planners and citizens to improve pedestrian safety and improve the physical walking environment.
