Overview

The 2nd Annual Iowa Sustainable Planning Workshop is a learning event that integrates all aspects of planning for healthy and sustainable communities. A variety of topics will be offered to meet the needs of both beginner and advanced skill needs of planners, designers, government officials, public health administrators, and economic development specialists. The intended audience includes professionals, elected officials, staff supporting elected officials, cities and counties and public health professionals. The objectives of the workshop include: Learn about smart growth and sustainability in relation to small cities and rural communities Discuss and learn practical applications of smart growth through small city and rural case studies Learn about specific efforts in Iowa for sustainable planning in storm water management, infrastructure, and regional collaboration Learn about factors impacting adaptation to living resiliently including changing weather patterns and aging. Learn about grant opportunities and strategies for small cities to impact local planning and the economy
